Bulk e-mailing

CTC Scotland uses its email list to give late notice of important events, reminders and announcements. Every household in Scotland should receive Cycle Talk with its copy of Cycle [though occasionally for technical reasons we sometimes miss an issue]. Cycle Talk is always posted on the web - often two to 3 weeks before the paper copy arrives.

We currently have about 1100 signed up [just under half]. Please do sign up. There's no cost, and we promise that your details will not be made available to other organisations or posted on the web.

The same list is used to manage the Lothians Group email notification system, so if you are in the Lothians you can control both from one page. [Others can sign up for Lothian newsletters if they want!] Using this list we send out "Cycle Forth" about twice a year, also a monthly 'snapshot' of current Events and Campaigning issues.

When we started this, it was a simple sign-up system, with an option to unsubscribe. We didn't make any provision for users to change their email address or options. These facilities have now been added, but the price is that passwords have had to be added. So...

  • If you have never been on the list - go to 'register'
  • If you have been receiving bulletins from CTC Scotland about Cycle Talk or Lothian ones (Cycle Forth) and want to change anything go to 'password reminder' to get your password. An email will be sent to you giving your password.

When you have done this once, you can simply select 'log in' to make further changes.

Yahoo group

We also use a standard Yahoo group for more immediate matters.

For example, the "hard Monday rides" are often planned and arrangements announced on Friday, but subject to change according to weather conditions. Normally a final announcement is made on Sunday evening. It is also used when there are car assisted rides to offer and request places in cars.

As with any Yahoo group there is the option to read messages on the web, but also to have e-mails of the messages sent to you immediately, or as a daily digest. You can set it up for whichever option suits you best - and change the options any time you want. To read the messages or to join the group click here Edinburgh CTC Riding Group
